International Affairs Society, Monash (MIAS)

The Monash International Affairs Society (MIAS) is an apolitical society which caters for those who share a passion for travel, international affairs and world politics. MIAS strives to provide students with the opportunity to further develop their skills and knowledge in fun and social environments, with flagship events including participation in several inter-state and global Model United Nations (MUN) programs, MUNash, internship opportunities, diplomat talks, embassy and consulate tours, networking and careers events, and trivia nights. Our unique global MUN program in particular has taken students to a range of countries and cities including New York, Seoul, Rome, Montreal, Panama, and Madrid resulting in not only awards and fantastic achievements but also in lifelong friends and enriching cultural experiences.

In 2019, we’re excited to expand the club with even more diplomat presentations and Q&As, how to MUN and miniMUN workshops, debates, podcasts, BBQ’s and much more, working in partnership with Embassies, NGO’s and several international organisations. Whilst being based in an international relations background, we are an inclusive and open society and encourage students from all disciplines to get involved and participate in our incredible events - whether you’re a fourth year arts student majoring in international relations or a first year science student who enjoys reading the news every so often and likes Trump memes, MIAS is a society for you.
