ABOUT THE CLUB

Established in 2016, MVS strives to promote a plant-based lifestyle to students and staff through education, community and, importantly, the sharing of food. Our eventual vision is a campus that does not use nonhuman animals or animal products in its operations. For now, we provide a supportive community for everyone (vegan or otherwise) to explore a plant-based lifestyle. We are a valuable source of information and expertise for those wishing to become vegan or decrease their consumption of meat and other animal products. We hold regular events throughout semester, most of which are free for our members. Our events include:
¥ FOOD events
¥ Film and documentary screenings
¥ Guest speakers
¥ Field-trips - think Edgar’s Mission Farm Sanctuary!

If you are interested in finding out more about MVS and what we are doing, please visit our Facebook page (Monash Vegan Society), or send us an email (vegan@monashclubs.org).

Aims & Objectives

The aims of the Monash Vegan society are to:
i) educate Monash students and staff about animal use industries and the benefits that a vegan/plant-based diet can bring to the planet, nonhuman animals and human health;
ii) facilitate and promote the accessibility of plant-based living within the Monash community by providing delicious and health vegan food on campus and advocating the rapidly growing vegan presence to eateries, retailers and relevant faculties;
iii) educate the Monash community on how the animal agriculture industry adversely impacts the environment and human health at a global level;
iv) advocate vegan, vegetarian and reducetarian lifestyles as a means of addressing ethical issues regarding nonhuman animals, improving health in human communities, promoting global food security and reducing one’s environmental footprint; and
v) create and grow a vibrant community by connecting students and staff with like-minded individuals interested in veganism and nonhuman animal issues; and connect students and staff with local businesses, non-profit organisations and individuals who provide vegan-friendly community spaces and address nonhuman animal issues.
