Mental Health First Aid

This training is MANDATORY for the following office bearers: President, Off-Campus Event Team Members. 

This training is RECOMMENDED for the following office bearers: Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Other Committee Members 

Note: All red level risk off-campus club events must a minimum of two Event Coordinators trained in Mental Health First Aid.  Unfortunately Better Friends Training will not be accepted for red level events. 

This course helps to mobilise and empower students equipping them with the knowledge, skills and confidence to recognise, understand and respond to a fellow student who may be experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis.  Participants will gain skills in recognising common mental health problems, develop knowledge of possible causes and learn how to provide initial support to those in need until professional help is received or the crisis is resolved. 

Training Opportunities Available
Mental Health First Aid is offered by a number of providers across the University in varying formats.  These include MSA Volunteering, Monash Training and Professional Development (MTPD) and Monash University.
