FEM Industry Guide Launch

Female Engineers at Monash provide opportunity for students to network with industry representatives.

Female Engineers at Monash held our much anticipated annual Industry Guide launch on the evening of Wednesday the 16th of August and gave students the opportunity to network with various industry representatives.

The evening started with an introduction by our President, Ashleen Kaur and Assistant Industry Liaison, Marielle Salon followed by presentations by representatives from the Australian Synchrotron, Acciona, LXRA and Aurecon. During a break in the middle of the evening for dinner students were given the opportunity to mingle with industry representatives and have any questions answered. A highlight of the evening was the fantastic speech given by Jonike Brussow, an engineer working for Aurecon.

Of course, the reason for the event was our Industry Guide, which has grown in length and variety of content over the years. Every attendee received a copy of this publication, jam-packed with stories of women working in a diverse range of engineering careers as well as advice on how to prepare for, and find, your dream engineering job.

Feedback from students and industry representatives was overwhelmingly positive. Students enjoyed the chance to meet real-life engineers and learn about their career paths. The free food was also popular! Industry representatives said that the night was well organised, and former members of FEM commented on how the club has grown in influence and size since their time at Monash. We are looking forward to doing it again next year!
