MESS Industry Night 2017

Posted by Bray Morrow (Monash Engineering Students' Society) on 13 September 2017

The MESS Industry Night is based on a simple concept; to create a comfortable atmosphere that allows for the perfect opportunity for our members to form lasting connections with industry.

Industry Night 2017 hosted by Monash Engineering Student’s Society (MESS) gave students an ideal situation to engage with Industry representatives from the various fields of Engineering. As interest from companies in events such as these continue to grow, the student-to-industry ratio is becoming increasingly noticed by students in how they have more time to connect with companies of their choice and obtain the information they require.

The event kicked-off with two rotations of activities – an icebreaker making it easy to start conversations and a practical-based engineering competition to design and launch a marshmallow the furthest keeping conversation flowing and assuring entertainment with various failures and successes.  The night then finished by traditional networking with delicious finger food and refreshments.

Some of the engineering companies with stalls set up in the Main Dining Hall of Clayton Campus include: AECOM, AMOG, BAE Systems, Carlton & United Breweries, Defence, GTA, Level Crossing Removal Authority, Telstra and Wood Group. While there were also other companies attending included: Accenture, Deloitte and Teach for Australia.

Industry Night 2017 was a successful opportunity to connect with industry partners in a relaxed and friendly environment. Congratulations to the event organisers and a huge thanks to all the Clayton Students and wide variety of companies that attended that made the event highly beneficial for all involved!
