The 2014 Container Festival is a bold enterprise from MUST (MSA) - a dynamic multi-artform, multi-venue arts festival coming to Monash Clayton this August 1 - 16!
Last year's inaugural festival was an enormous success; incorporating over 200 performances and events from 240 artists, and attracting more than 2200 audience members. This year it's set to be even bigger and bolshier!
Shipping containers set up as performance venues, a vibrant “Hub” and lounge bar located in the MUST theatre, “miniMUST” and other surprising spaces will be filled with innovative new work of all shapes and sizes. You’ll experience music, dance, theatre, visual art, games, burlesque, interactive performances, poetry, puppetry, talks, exhibitions and more!
The Container Festival will provide an engine room and showcase for ground-breaking work of all genres. MUST Artistic Director, Yvonne Virsik said; “It will ignite cultural engagement and expression, foster innovation and provide brilliant, affordable entertainment.” The Director of Clayton Campus Community, Terry Hogan, said; “Monash University sees the festival as a great way to bring culture and arts to the general population on and around the campus.”
The festival launches Friday 1 August in the Hub from 6pm ‘til late with free entry. Featuring an impressive line-up of festival artists, guests will get a sneak preview of the diverse work on offer, meet the artists, and enjoy a sensational party!
